SILICON VALLEY CHAPTER
CONGRATULATIONS TO CFMA SILICON VALLEY'S 2024 SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS

FIRST PLACE WINNER - $10,000 SCHOLARSHIP

Misael Gonzalez

My name is Misael Gonzalez, and I'm entering my fourth year at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, where I’m majoring in Construction Management with a minor in Architectural Engineering. I grew up in Tomales, California, a small town on the outskirts of Marin County. One of my interests is sports, as I played football, basketball, and tennis growing up.

At Cal Poly, I’m involved in many clubs, such as being president of CM CASA, a club dedicated to creating community and support for first-generation and minority students pursuing construction management. I decided to pursue construction management as it stood out as uniquely gratifying. Your hard work and dedication in construction lead to the most tangible outcome.

This summer, I am interning with Related Companies as a Project Engineer. I am incredibly grateful for the opportunities I have received and look forward to continuing to learn and grow.

SECOND PLACE WINNER - $8,000 SCHOLARSHIP

Jordan Campos

My name is Jordan Campos, and I come from a hardworking Latino household. I consider my family to be my biggest support system, as they have always encouraged me to pursue higher education. From the age of seven, soccer became a big part of my life, which taught me the importance of two big principles in the field of construction management: teamwork and dedication. My passion for construction management stems from my dad’s involvement in the field, as a construction and landscape worker. I enjoy the intensity, changes and team involvement. Before starting my undergraduate degree, I achieved my associate degree in electrical technology. Present day, I’m in my final year and will soon be obtaining my BA in construction management. I'm passionate about combining my education and love for construction to make a meaningful impact in the industry.

THIRD PLACE WINNER - $5,000 SCHOLARSHIP

Josiah Rangel

Josiah Rangel is a student at The Master's University majoring in Marketing Media. This summer he worked with Creative Window Interiors, a provider of custom designed window coverings, as a Marketing and Branding Intern. Josiah enjoys playing soccer and football, singing with his university chorale, and serving in youth ministry at his church.

THIRD PLACE WINNER - $5,000 SCHOLARSHIP

Daniel DeSoto

I am currently a student at the University of California, Berkeley, pursuing a degree in Real estate development & Design. With a strong academic foundation and a curiosity-driven mindset, I discovered a profound passion for facilities management.

This interest was sparked after attending a large facility management conference in Nashville, where I gained insights into managing building systems, optimizing resource use, and ensuring the safety and comfort of occupants.

I aim to leverage education and experiences to contribute to the development of smarter, more sustainable facilities. I aspire to be at the forefront of the industry, driving advancements that enhance the functionality and provide amazing spaces.
