At this popular annual Silicon Valley CFMA seminar, Mr. Sweeney will remind CFMA members on the basics of lien, stop payment notice, and lien rights, discuss what’s new and different, as well as tricks and techniques for preserving your bottom line.
Mr. Sweeney graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a B.A. in Business Administration in 1974. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of San Francisco School of Law in 1977. Mr. Sweeney has served on the Board of Directors of AGC of California (Santa Clara District) and the American Subcontractors Association, Bay Area Chapter. He has also served as a Judge Pro Tem for the Santa Clara Superior Court for the past twenty-two years.
Mr. Sweeney is a member of the California State Bar, Santa Clara County Bar Association, Associated Builders & Contractors, American Subcontractors Association, Associated General Contractors of California, Building Industry Association, Construction Financial Management Association (CFMA), National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA), (Contra Costa, San Mateo and Santa Clara Chapters), Salinas Valley Builders Exchange and the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors National Association (Monterey District).
Mr. Sweeney regularly represents owners, design professionals, general contractors, subcontractors and material suppliers in all aspects of construction‑related law and litigation, including public and private contract negotiations, collection actions, bid disputes, mechanic’s lien foreclosures, stop notice enforcement, surety bond claims, delay claims, defect litigation, mediations, and arbitrations.
Mr. Sweeney will be joined by Scott Mangum of his firm, and by panelists Jerry Kroen, CFO of South Bay Construction, and Dan Nagle, Esq., representing Joseph J. Albanese, Inc.
